Tashani Dickson | Scrofano Law
Attorney Tashani Dickson is a former Assistant State’s Attorney who joined the firm’s Rockville office in 2022 as our first Maryland Associate. Attorney Dickson works closely with our Maryland Practice Leader, Morgan E. Leigh.
As a former Assistant State’s Attorney in Harford County, she has unique insights in how prosecutors view and handle cases in the State of Maryland. In Harford County, she handled hundreds of criminal cases in District Court also completing duty assignments in Circuit Court. She spent 2.5 years prosecuting cases. She was described by a Harford County judge as an all-star for the 2019 class of incoming ASA’s. Attorney Dickson also spent a brief stint as an ASA in Baltimore City District Court.
The experience as a prosecutor provider her with a tremendous amount of experience in litigating criminal cases, including trying multiple jury trials and dozens of bench trials. Ms. Dickson values her time as an ASA and appreciates the relationships she built as well as the support from her colleagues. Throughout her legal career, she has always carried with her the ideology that every individual deserves zealous and competent representation regardless of their statute or standing in life. Her transition to criminal defense came as a result of her desire to aggressively provide such representation and her willingness to fight for individual rights against the government.
Eager to take the skills she learned working for the State, Attorney Dickson defends clients in District Courts across Maryland, including Montgomery, Prince George’s, Howard, Anne Arundel, Baltimore County, and Baltimore City. As an up-and-coming attorney, she is fearless when it comes to defending the rights of her client.
Working together with Attorney Leigh, she is one half a dynamic duo that includes both a former prosecutor and public defender. She is a tremendous addition to our Maryland practice and gives Scrofano Law PC a unique edge and well-rounded team. In addition to her experience as a prosecutor, Attorney Dickson has handled civil cases in counties across Maryland.
While in Law School at the University of Baltimore School of Law, Ms. Dickson was a student in the Criminal Practice Clinic where she handled cases in the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. She was active in organizations as a participant in the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition where she was runner up in the Mid-Atlantic region and participated in a human trafficking prevention project where she helped victims of tracking shield their criminal records. She was also an active member of the Black Law Students Association. As an undergraduate student at Towson University, she was a student athlete playing on the Varsity Field Hockey Team. At one point during her collegiate career, Ms. Dickson was ranked ninth in the nation for saves per game. She graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in History.
Attorney Dickson has deep roots in the State of Maryland having grown up in Montgomery County, spent her undergraduate years in Baltimore County, and law school in Baltimore City. She has a unique understanding of the Maryland criminal court system and is a fantastic addition to the Scrofano Law PC team. If you catch Attorney Dickson outside of the courtroom, chances are she’ll have a camera in hand.
