Success in D.C. Mental Health Court: Case Dismissed

Successful Defense: Marijuana Possession Charge Dropped

A worker at a marijuana dispensary in Washington D.C. was arrested and charged for felony Possession With Intent to Distribute marijuana.  At the preliminary hearing, we argued that the government did not present evidence as to whether the dispensary had a medical marijuana license before arresting our client.  The judge agreed that the government did not have probable cause and dismissed the case without prejudice at the preliminary hearing.

Case Dismissed: Successful Defense Against Weather-Related Citation

A client in Washington, D.C. was issued a ticket for running a red light after sliding on some ice in the road.  He was concerned that the point added to his license would cause him to lose his Commercial Driver’s License, so we scheduled a hearing at the D.C. DMV to contest the ticket.  We presented evidence of the ice on the ground at the time of the incident and the hearing examiner dismissed the ticket.

License Restored: Successful Appeal of DMV Revocation

A client discovered that his license was suspended by the D.C. DMV when he tried to obtain a Real ID and his reinstatement application was denied.  We drafted and filed an appeal on his behalf arguing that he was not notified of the license revocation, and they incorrectly labeled an alcohol counseling program he completed as not state certified.  The DMV Traffic Adjudication Board ruled in our favor and our client was able to successfully reinstate his license.

Disciplinary Action Avoided: Negotiated Dismissal for Army Veteran

A United States Army Staff Sergeant was arrested for carrying a pistol without a license after informing a hotel in Washington D.C. where he was staying that he accidentally left his firearm.  After successful negotiations, we were able to get his case dismissed and he was able to avoid disciplinary action by the military.

License Hold Removed: DMV Error Corrected via Court Certification

A client’s driver’s license was suspended by Washington, D.C. DMV for a criminal case that did not exist.  We were able to contact the Assistant General Counsel of the D.C. DMV and provided them with certification from D.C. Superior Court that our client never had any cases with them.  Consequently, the DMV removed the hold on our client’s license.

Case Dismissed: Firearm Charges Dropped for Carry Permit Holder

A client with a D.C. Concealed Carry Permit was arrested by officers for possessing an unregistered firearm after he attempted to report a stolen vehicle.  After successful negotiations, we were able to have the case dismissed.
